It’s finally happening. What once felt like a dream – building a first-of-its-kind, state-of-the-art Animal Care Facility here in Peterborough – is finally becoming a reality. We’ll have shovels in the ground this Spring. And truly, we couldn’t have done it without you!
As a way of saying thanks, PHS would like to invite you to a virtual Build Update & Beer Tasting. Our Executive Director, Shawn Morey, will walk you through a building progress update and Andrea Plumley of Cameron’s Brewing Co. will be providing craft beers and noshes from Delectable Fine Foods and Primal Cuts for a virtual beer tasting. Food and drinks will be delivered right to your door* via contactless delivery (vegan and vegetarian options available!). We really hope you can make it. Here’s the lowdown:

Shawn Morey joined the Peterborough Humane Society as their Executive Director in January of 2018 and has brought the organization to new heights. His leadership and focus on fiscal responsibility has resulted in a net positive variance of over $260,000 operationally (not including COVID-related government subsidies) and over $850,000 in our capital campaign. He also hired over 10 staff to contribute to further innovation in animal welfare and drive home our campaign for a new purpose-built Animal Care Centre.
Prior to joining the Peterborough Humane Society, Shawn managed Golf Clubs including Black Diamond, BraeBen and was a Golf Pro for many years. He currently resides on Pigeon Lake with his wife, two girls, and two dogs!
Andrea Plumley has been a territory manager with Cameron’s Brewing Co. for three years. She feels very fortunate to work with an incredible team and company that understands the value of building community! Her focus is on charity and community involvement. She’s been the local beer sponsor for the Peterborough Folk Fest for the last two years as well as the Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival.
Andrea was born and raised in Peterborough. Her husband is a Parks employee with the City of Peterborough and her daughter attends Armour Heights Public School, where she graduated from. They share a home here in the city with their Calico/Mancoon cat, Stan!
